About Nordic Energy Pulse

What these numbers mean, when they update, and where they come from.

What is a spot price?

Electricity in the Nordics is traded a day in advance on the Nord Pool day-ahead market. Every afternoon, producers and buyers submit bids for each hour of the following day, and a single clearing price is set per hour and per bidding zone.

Prices are shown by default in the consumer-friendly unit c/kWh. Prices use each country's local currency by default (EUR, SEK, NOK, or DKK), and you can switch all prices to EUR. Prices are shown with VAT included by default — you can switch to prices without VAT, or to wholesale EUR per MWh. You can also add your own grid fee and contract margin so the numbers match what you actually pay.

Tomorrow's prices are normally published in the early afternoon, around 14:00 CET. Until then, the tomorrow section stays empty. The market has moved to 15-minute settlement, and you can switch between hourly and 15-minute prices where the source provides them.
